I'm On A Moat!

Our landscaping has been in desperate need of attention since we bought the place, but we're not exactly equipt for the kind of work it needed, so we called in reinforcements...

Our old neighbor Freddie owns a landscaping company (if you're in need of a landscaper, let me know!), and he offered to help us out with the more difficult tasks. One of those tasks was the removal of the overgrown, snot producing bushes in front of our garage, and this was no easy feat!

But after some hard work, Derek and Freddie prevailed against the booger bushes.

And while the boys were chopping away, I had the particularly daunting task of keeping them fueled. I did so with some fabulous recipes from Pinterest, including these Nutella pastries...

After a snack, the boys went back to work, and before lunch, they hacked the hedges down to size...

And just when we thought we had done enough in our jungle of a yard, a little lady by the name of Debbie paid Central Florida a visit...

Debbie and I are NOT friends, and she definitely overstayed her welcome. As a result, in spite of our fancy gutters...

We have a moat!
(and I didn't even get a picture of the worst of it!) The plus side is we don't have to set our alarm anymore. In fact, if we get a gator for the moat, I won't even lock the doors anymore! The downside? Derek has yet to install our drawbridge. As a result, we had to exit the house by going out the garage and jumping over the sensor, but because we don't have a garage door opener yet, entry had to be planned in advance. Because I was trying to avoid getting my injured toe wet, the first day I decided to hop on one foot. After that, I chose to wear platform sandals so that I could walk through the puddle and not get wet.

Freddie wasn't the only one who came to help out though! Brayden noticed Derek hadn't repaired the drywall holes, so he decided to help out..

The legos he chose though, weren't quite big enough though...

So that's the story of the week. Next week's blog (hopefully): Life Living on DRY Land!

Our Tri= Swim + Plumbing + Clean

Good news friends, you will no longer have to hear about Derek doing the plumbing because as of Monday... WE PASSED INSPECTION!!!!! WHOO HOO!!!

But that's not all that has happened around here. You see, I've always wanted a pool, and Mother Nature decided to provide me with one...

Unfortunately, the sidewalk leading up to my front door isn't exactly an ideal location for a pool. It appears as if Derek has to add a French Drain to the honey-do list. In the storm, we also found a puppy under Derek's truck...

She is our neighbor's and apparently the storm blew their gate open and she decided to come over for a visit. When the storm calmed down, we took her home. In between storms, we had a busy week, and my busy week involved an interview with a school! Fingers crossed! They called me back for a second interview and I should hear any day. Hopefully in my next post, I will be informing you that I am an employed woman.

This weekend, I did my first Olympic Distance Triathlon in 3:16:22! I even tied for 1st place in my age division with my bestie!

But since that's not enough action for one weekend, Derek's grandma and aunt came to visit from Port St. Lucie. I was nervous about this. Our house isn't anywhere near perfect yet, and even worse--his grandma wanted me to cook! But all went well, they loved the house, and everyone had clean plates and compliments (Thank Science for Pinterest!). So that's it for now. TTFN--Ta Ta For Now!

Pipe (and) Dreams

It's been a busy week for us. Derek is wrapping up the plumbing, and it'll be ready for the inspector on Monday, but getting ready hasn't been easy. The plan of getting it all done this past weekend didn't happen, but Derek was determined to get it done and inspected this week. He decided that to be able to do this, he needed to work every day after work, despite the fact that he had to work overtime all this week. He's been working hard...

and late...

(and this is only when I went to bed, he was up until midnight). Night

after night...

after night...

But Derek was able to disconnect the old plumbing and reconnect the new plumbing, and install some new fancy faucets...
(this one only has the handle done of course)

(This one sings "I'm Too Sexy for My Sink," every time you turn it on.)

He even got rid of this hideous old water heater...

and replaced it with this fancy new one--complete with a touch screen!

I have been keeping busy too. This week I enjoyed a new convenience. You see, laundry takes time, and sometimes a girl needs to snack. But who wants to walk all the way over to the pantry while trying to do laundry? Well, this week that wasn't an issue...

I also spent some time making some crafts to organize my hair accessories, and beautify our home...

And both of us spent time dreaming of what we will make of our home. Last night's dream, a bar...
